Beef semen sales in the US reached a record 8.7 million units in 2021, up 21% from the previous year. Indeed, 10 years earlier only 1.3 million units sold and as recently as 2018 the figure stood at 4 million units. This surging demand is due in large part to the boom in beef-on-dairy. Select Sires has implemented a new genetic improvement program aimed at producing terminal sires ideally suited for this aspect of the market.
