Progressively, more and more breeders are paying attention to management traits. The reason is the impact they have on farm profitability. Chief among these traits is longevity: If an animal does well for all the other traits then it should add up to a long expected lifetime. Here we examine the sources of data and the evaluation methods used worldwide in coming up with these expected lifetime predictions.
