In the article “The Background and Future of the Most Significant Red Holstein Populations” in HI’s Red Review issue 08/2018, the decreasing number of Red Holstein inseminations in the Netherlands was noted. The cause? Further analysis by the Dutch HI publication HI Plus! pointed to the supply of daughter proven Red Holstein sires. Dutch Red Holstein farmers attach a relatively high value to daughter proven bulls, but: the supply of high bulls with the good components and robust frames that are desired by farmers is currently limited.
